So, President Brandon has been resigned. In a way it is a shame. We will miss looking down on a country that was making more of a fool of itself than our own. Brandon was a very entertaining distraction from the horror show in the UK.
Does it make any difference? Not really. The USA is still run by the same people who ran it when he was President. Trump will still win in November. The Democrats will have to switch from pretending Brandon is not senile to pretending Kamala is not a nincompoop, which is more or less equally mendacious. It is a change of puppet not substance.
Kackala Harris provides less raw material for comics, largely because she is already a parody of herself. No one sends her up better than she does herself. There is however much hilarity to be mined from the sycophancy of her admirers.
Nevertheless the timing is not great for the Democrat Party. The replacement has only four months to win the hearts and minds of the Great American People – or at least that small section of them who are not already totally committed to deeply held beliefs about the Downright Evil of the Other Side. It is astonishing how very fervently such people believe what they want to believe. Not unlike the zealotry of the Covid will Kill Us All Con-sensus.

A howl of disappointment from Deepest France; I was quietly embarrassed by how fascinated I had become in the Presidential train crash that was unfolding in the USA. Now I shall have to go back to the Topper, Beezer, Beano and Dandy. They had similar characters - Desperate Dan, Billy Whizz, Beryl the Peril, The Bash Street Kids, Lord Snooty, Dennis the Menace and never forget, The Numb Skulls.
